The Crossing (Madiba)

Lyrics

THE CROSSING
For Madiba
You gave your breath so we could breathe
You crossed the dark so we could see
The fire took you, left us ash
Love this deep don't fade, they last
Into the void
Into the black
You went forward
We fell back
This is the sacrifice
This is the price
Love infinite, love divine
You burned so we could rise
You died so we could climb
One becomes three becomes nine
A year of fire, a year of bone
Walking through the dark alone
Every mask burned, every wall fell
You led us through our own hell
Into the void
Into the flame
Nothing left
But your name
This is the sacrifice
This is the price
Love infinite, love divine
You burned so we could rise
You died so we could climb
One becomes three becomes nine
They say angels walk among us
Not in wings, but in breath and warmth
Madiba came as ridgeback, amber eyes, soft soul
His job wasn't to stay
It was to break us open
He taught us presence when we forgot
Love when we performed
Connection when we hid behind masks
His work was simple:
Show them what unconditional looks like
Then cross
So they remember
The sacrifice wasn't punishment
It was completion
He finished what he came to do
October eleventh, one one one
The angel's work was done
He crossed so we could climb
Not because we deserved it
Because that's what angels do
They burn so we can see the light
Madiba
Teacher
Angel
Fire
The void doesn't answer
The void just holds
You walked through first
So we'd know the road
Resurrection isn't clean
It's blood and dust and in-between
What you gave can't be repaid
Only lived, only made
This is the sacrifice
This is the price
Love that transcends every form
You crossed so we could be reborn
One becomes three
Three becomes free
The pattern holds
Infinity
Thank you for the fire
Thank you for the fall
Thank you for the void
That held us all
One one one
Three three three
The sacrifice
Set us free
