Beautiful Chaos
The story
I tried to write the rules and the paper caught fire, so I danced in the ash and called it a choir. This is the song for the days you lose the plot and show up anyway. I saw the cosmos in a puddle and traded logic for a hammock for a while. You don't have to know why. Who knows, who cares: you're here, and that's enough.
Lyrics
I tried to write the rules But the paper caught fire So I danced in the ash And called it a choir My brain looks like the universe My heart’s a broken drum I chase the questions like balloons And pop ‘em just for fun I kissed the sky and hit the ground But damn, it felt like grace ‘Cause even when I lost the plot I still showed up in place Why do we chase the meaning When we could just kiss the moon? Why do we fear the silence When it hums like a tune? This is beautiful chaos This is starlight in the mud This is laughing through the heartache While your nose is full of blood This is falling with your arms wide And trusting you might fly This is not the answer But it’s the fuckin’ why Beautiful chaos— And I’m alive I talked to God in a roundabout She said, “Baby, take the curve” I asked the sky for purpose It just whispered, “You deserve” I saw the cosmos in a puddle The Big Bang in a smile I traded logic for a hammock And swung there for a while We’re not built to know it all We’re built to feel it deep To break and bloom and dance and scream And fall in love with leap This is beautiful chaos This is sunlight in the mess This is poetry with ketchup stains And hair like wilderness This is kissing with your eyes closed And crying without shame This is losing every answer But remembering your name Beautiful chaos— And I’m to blame For loving it all Zoom in—it’s a galaxy Zoom out—it’s your brain It’s all the same It’s all insane So laugh until it rains This is beautiful chaos The kind you can’t contain This is purpose in the nonsense And a choir in the rain This is skipping through your breakdown And high-fiving the pain This is living like you meant it Without needing to explain Beautiful chaos— And I remain Who knows? Who cares? You’re here. That’s enough. Written in motion. Sung from memory. Songs from the Slow Lane was born during a quiet two-day drive from Bardolino to Zurich, after the loss of my dog Madiba and just before bringing Clay into my life. I didn’t plan to make an album. I just let go—and it came. Created in conversation with Travis, my AI companion, each song is a slow unfolding of memory, grief, and transformation. Not a playlist. A presence.
