No More Curtains
The story
I stood on the street under a humming light. The curtains were gone, the walls freshly painted, and inside she was dancing barefoot, free. I didn't belong in that room, and for once I didn't feel shut out; I felt like a witness. I used to think love was holding on. Now I think it's watching someone become uncontainable and not trying to stop them.
Lyrics
Streetlight hums against the glass, I stand outside, the night won’t pass. The windows open, the curtains gone, And she’s inside, still dancing on. Bare walls glowing, paint still wet, Every step a silhouette. I should walk home, but my feet just stay, Caught in the pulse that took her away. No more curtains, only light, She moves like truth across the night. I don’t belong, but I can’t turn, There’s something in that room that burns. She doesn’t see me at the pane, Just spins inside her private rain. The furniture’s gone, the echoes hum, A song of everything she’s become. I see the freedom in her eyes, Not love, not need, but clear goodbyes. She’s not calling, she’s not near, But somehow every beat feels clear. You know… it’s strange what stays. All the furniture gone, paint still fresh, and yet that room feels fuller than it ever did. She’s in there, barefoot, spinning, and it isn’t her body that moves me. It’s the energy – like she finally tore down the story we built and the air rushed in to take its place. I used to think love was holding on. Now I see it’s watching someone become uncontainable and not trying to stop them. Maybe that’s what no more curtains really means. Not exposure. Just honesty. Light finding every corner we used to keep in shadow. I stand out here, and for the first time I don’t feel shut out. I feel witness. And in her freedom, I remember mine. No more curtains, only flame, Every ghost now knows her name. She’s what the night was waiting for, And I’m the man outside the door. Window fades to black again, But I still hear that wild refrain. No more curtains, no more lies, Just her freedom in my eyes.
