The Bonfire Chronicles · track 8 of 11

Embers & Silence

The story

The fire was low, one log cracking like it wanted to know: is it time to rise, or time to fold? You stepped out barefoot through the dew, no coat, no words, and I moved my cup so you could sit. We sat like monks without a vow, the dog asleep at my feet. I don't know what that silence meant. Not every quiet needs an answer; some only need two people willing to stay in it.

Lyrics

SONG TITLE: Embers & Silence

Album: The Bonfire Chronicles
Warm fingerpicked guitar + breathy layered pads + vinyl crackle.
Think: José González, early Bon Iver, Iron & Wine, Hozier (quiet tracks).
This song isn’t about answers. It’s about staying.
It’s not romantic. It’s reverent.

Soft hush, no rush, the fire’s low glow
One log cracks like it wants to know
Is it time to rise, or time to fold?
Night still lingers, but the air feels old
My dog curled up at my feet —
Chasing something in his sleep

You step out barefoot through the dew
No coat, no words — just morning truth
I move my cup, you take your place
Two souls not trying to explain
We sit like monks without a vow
Neither then, nor here, nor now

Embers and silence, coffee and cold
The in-between where the brave unfold
Not in heat, not in flame, not in song
But in the breath where we both belong

Steam from mugs, a crow goes by
The lake reflects a half-told sky
I think of letters never sent
Of fires sparked with good intent
How many times did I almost stay?
How many times did you look away?

Is this the end of night, or start of day?
Have we healed… or just delayed?
I don’t know what this silence means
But I know I want to keep it clean

Embers and silence, coffee and cold
The in-between where the truth unfolds
Not in sparks, not in smoke, not in tears
But in the stillness we’ve needed for years

No need to move, not just yet
Let the coals say what we forget
And when the birds begin to call
We’ll know if it was night at all
