This Is the Life
The story
Coffee in hand, the dog chasing birds, firewood stacked, no suits, no city weight. A laugh cracked the early day open, and I knew this right here was true wealth. We swam through time, not just the lake. It wasn't bought, it was found. The good life is smaller and truer than the one they sold us, and it was waiting by the fire all along.
Lyrics
SONG TITLE: “This Is the Life” Album: The Bonfire Chronicles Rhythmic strums. Barefoot beats. Smiling heart. Think: Vance Joy, Jack Johnson, Passenger — but wiser. A song about the good life — not the rich life. A reminder that wealth is what stays when money’s gone. Coffee in hand, sun on your skin Dog chasing birds, tail spinning in sin No plans, no suits, no city weight Just firewood stacked and a clean slate Your laugh cracked open the early day Like the world said “yes” in its quiet way You looked at me like we already knew That this — right here — was true wealth too This is the life — full and free Where the soul gets fed and the mind can be No need to climb, no urge to race Just purpose lived at a natural pace This is the life — where less is more And love’s not locked behind a door We belong right here, no need to roam This is the life — and it feels like home We swam through time, not just the lake A moment’s breath — no give, no take You said, “I’ve never felt more whole” And I thought: This is what they call soul Not built on gold or concrete lines But on silence shared and slow sunrises The dog curled up by our bare feet And I thought: This is the richest beat You come in light, you go in light So why not dance beneath the night? Burn bright now — not in a rush But with presence, purpose, and quiet trust This is the life — not bought, but found Where hearts beat loud without a sound Where freedom hums and time is kind And what we need, we always find This is the life — the wealthy kind Where love is deep and peace is blind We have a fire, a laugh, a song This is the life — where we belong Yeah… This is the life. This is the life.
