The One Who Stayed
The story
Nobody sings about the man who sat in the smoke and used his hands. I didn't scream, I didn't preach, I didn't beg for relief. I stared that fire down and let it teach me what was underneath: no halo, no choir, just a spine and a second breath. Staying is not the same as giving up. Sometimes it's the bravest thing a body can do.
Lyrics
Album: The Bonfire Chronicles Gritty, raw voice. Aggressive undercurrent. Imagine: Rag’n’Bone Man x Ben Howard x Hozier x Zach Bryan This track is dirt under the nails, jaw clenched, walking into wind. 🎶 FULL SONG LYRICS They talk about the ones who fell They write about the ones who ran But no one sings the name of the man Who sat in the smoke and used his hands I didn’t scream, I didn’t preach I didn’t beg for some relief I just stared that fire down And let it teach me what’s beneath I’m the one who stayed Through the burn, through the blade Didn’t flinch, didn’t fade Yeah, I built my name in flame While they played, while they prayed I held the storm I’m the one who stayed She left, he cracked, they lost their grip I took the fall with a steady lip Didn’t write no holy book But I bled truth in every look You don’t know strength ‘til you sit in the fire No halo. No choir. Just pressure and wire. You don’t need gods when the smoke's in your chest Just a name, a spine, and a second breath I’m the one who stayed Didn’t bow, didn’t trade Every scar, every shade Made me more than unafraid They broke, they strayed I held the flame I’m the one who stayed Yeah… I stayed.
